Maple Leaf School of Ballet was opened in September 2012, in St. Saviour’s Centre for the Arts. It was founded by David C. Beales (Goh Ballet Company, Ballet Victoria, A.R.A.D., S.R.B. AFF.) and Cheston Repola (Goh Ballet Company, Nashville Ballet Company, Columbus Dance Theatre, A.R.A.D.). With the pursuit of excellence in mind, while maintaining a happy and positive learning environment, Maple Leaf School of Ballet only wishes to help young dancers reach their own full potential through the guidance of well trained and experienced dancers. Founded by dancers and individuals with a diverse variety of strengths, the Maple Leaf School of Ballet staff feels that the school has the tools it takes to make your ballet goals come true.
Maple Leaf School of Ballet chose to reside in the St. Saviours heritage property with the idea in mind that: student dancers and choreographers; both being artists in training, need to be surrounded by good examples art, for inspiration, and aspiration. Being located close to the water in Victoria West, and having unique, and beautiful Gothic Revival architecture, multiple stained glass windows, chandeliers, and beautiful woodwork, St. Saviour’s heritage site seemed to meet all of the Schools immediate needs.
At Maple Leaf School of Ballet we believe that music and movement are an important part of growing and developing for everyone, at any age! We also aim to instill in our students an appreciation of ballet as a physical art form with a deep and storied history.
