We offer programs in Trinity Bellwoods, Bloor West Village, Wychwood and in the comfort of your own home!
6-12 Month Infant Program:
Our aim for this session is to teach you about the different aspects of your child's development and show you some practical activities that can be easily replicated at home. Each week we focus on a different area of development (for example, communication, language and literacy, sensory play, cause and effect exploration, physical development etc.). We'll usually start with a circle time together where the instructor will introduce the topic and give you some information about the skills we'll be developing in class. We then move onto a selection of activities where we're practicing skills being developed and then we usually end the class making a little take-home activity that can be enjoyed by your little one. This program is 6 weeks long and classes are 45 minutes long - cost is $135 for the session. Drop-ins welcome at $25 per class.
Toddler/Preschool Program (14 months - 4 years):
Our aim for this session is to help your child develop a lifelong love for learning through play while educating their primary caregiver on how to implement some fundamental strategies and incorporate play-based learning into your child’s daily activities.
Each week we have a different learning focus and we set up a range of of developmentally appropriate activities relating to a theme (eg the farm, space, jungle). The activities will be carefully set up to spark children’s interest and curiosity while including each area of development (eg. literacy, math, sensory, creative, fine motor, etc). You can expect your child to freely explore the enrichment activities provided while the caregiver gains insight towards the developing skills. Teachers will model and facilitate play and provide consult for questions or concerns. At the beginning or end of class, the teacher will run a guided activity with the group - it may be a song, story, parachute game or science experiment!
As part of our program, we also provide a weekly developmental handout for parents as well as a small take-home activity. The handout will give you some useful information about child development and hopefully contextualize some of the activities you will see in class. The take-home activity is meant for your child to further their learning outside of the class - it may be some activity ideas, a small toy or related activity.
Classes occur weekly and are 45 minutes long. Session length varies by season but runs between 8-13 weeks long and cost varies between $180-$292.50 per session. Drop-ins are welcome to attend at $25 per class.
Preschool Club (2.5-4 years):
While we will still incorporate all of our wonderful play-based learning activities that exist in our other SCC classes, our Preschool program will follow more of a structured timetable. Our program will follow a weekly theme and will support social, emotional and cognitive skills in preparation for kindergarten!
Each day in class, your child will participate in:
- A guided group activity
- Outdoor/Gross Motor time
- Social experiences
- Free play with holistic enrichment activities
- Story time
... And more!
This is a drop-off program that runs between 9:30-11:30am only at our Trinity Bellwoods location. Options to attend on M/W/F, TU/TH or 5 days a week. Cost is $35 per day.
Before and After-School Club (JK-Grade 6):
We offer daily care from 8-9am and from 3:15-6pm in our studio at Artscape Youngplace for children attending Givins Shaw Public School. The children are dropped off by their parents in the morning and we take them to school each day. In the afternoon, we pick them up from their teachers and bring them to our room. We have a lovely large space of 1000 square feet with different areas of learning and a changing, variety of activities out on the tables and shelves for children to choose from. Our program incorporates indoor and outdoor play into our daily routine. Cost is $40 per day.
The Smart Cookie Club was founded by a Registered ECE and OCT Teacher in downtown Toronto. The SCC founders are passionate about the benefits of play-based learning in the early years and strive to educate parents and caregivers on how best to support their children's development at home.
