VFS functions like a major studio, with multiple production facilities that are essential for creating content for film, TV, games, animation, design, digital applications, and more. Content creation is our core learning tool. We place our education in outstanding facilities with master instructors and mentors, and we regularly update and realign curriculum to be in lockstep with the most current industry standards. This is all to help students originate, produce, and exhibit their best possible creative and technical work.

History

Based on the certainty it was possible to learn film production skills much faster than taught by traditional university programs, Vancouver Film School opened in 1987 with 12 students as the world’s first full-time immersion film program dedicated to comprehensive skill development. Building on this model, VFS has introduced ‘first in the world’ production programs across film, TV, Games, Mobile, and Design industries.

VFS alumni have earned credits on approximately half of total world box-office, and have credits on 28 of the 30 all-time highest grossing films.
