Edmonton Community Dance is a Recreational and Progressive Dance Program that offers dance classes for children 3 years of age to Adults, in Ballet, Creative Movement, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop. We provide affordable dance classes to communities in Edmonton.
Edmonton Community Dance has been operating for over 30years in the City of Edmonton. It was started by Francis Saddy to offer recreational dance instruction at an affordable price, in the areas of baby ballet/creative movement, jazz, ballet, contemporary, Pointe, and hip-hop. In the fall of 2003 the North side of Edmonton Community Dance was sold to Tara and Mike Flewwelling. The Executive Director, Tara, has danced for 38 years. She has taught dance for 25 years. She continues to study dance by attending conferences and courses in the US and Canada. Tara also attends dance classes in the evening and competes in competitions as do many of her teachers. Mike, Tara’s husband, has a background in theatre and drama and enjoys helping to direct at the shows and helping with some of the administrative office duties. The program itself has offered the opportunity for many of our long time dancers to become student instructors and assistants, with the mentoring of our teachers. Many have gone on to become teachers themselves.
