Pygmalion offers a wide range of art classes for kids, teens and adults from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and above. The art instruction is designed for all skill levels from beginner to portfolio preparation. The visual art educators, Dixie Orriss and Gerry Rasmussen are practicing artists who have lived, taught and “breathed” art for over the past 25 years. Their approach to teaching art has been to keep students engaged and entertained by creating a balance between acquiring art skills, using a variety of mediums and art forms, and by learning art history and art fundamentals ...

Both my daughters attend classes with Dixie at Pygmalion School of Fine Arts. They began when they were six years old. They are now 11 and 12 and their passion and love for art has strengthened and been empowered with Dixie's outstanding guidance and instruction.

We travel from Spruce Grove to take art classes for my 2 girls. We've been coming here for 3 years and love how they can pick their medium and picture yet are encouraged to try out different mediums. I've seen great improvement with my kids artwork since coming to this school. Highly recommend

My daughter has been a student at Pygmalion since 2011. She has learned so much from Dixie and looks forward to her time at Pygmalion each week. Dixie is an excellent art teacher and encourages her students to try all mediums. Dixie is very attentive and is helpful with shy students as well. Best school of art in St. Albert!

Pygmalion School of Art is the best art school for students of all ages in the St. Albert area. Instructor Dixie Orriss, professional artist and art instructor, teaches all levels and all ages. My kids both did very well in classes and in Summer Art Camp, and I have personally taken lessons there for 4 years now.

I find Dixie’s style of teaching to be relaxed and student centered: she presents art theory and practice at a pace and using methods the student can handle. She usually starts new students with projects that teach specific art concepts, such as drawing, value, and colours mixing, but the subject of each student's art is chosen by the student. As a result, students (especially kids) progress through the lessons with a high level of interest in their work, and have lots to show for their efforts.

If you are looking for a GREAT art teacher for your kids, you must meet Dixie!
