At the Leighton Art Centre you will find a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of Calgary in the foothills close to Millarville. The centre is now a Heritage Home and Museum as well as a Gallery for local artists and artisans. We believe in the value of art and the beauty of our landscape.
We host a variety of art exhibitions, art events, and creative workshops instructed by local artists. Our school programs are taught in historical art studios on site or at your school and Summer Camps run weekly in July & August.
The Leighton's home was built by A.C. Leighton, a prominent artist, in the 1950s and during the 1970s Barbara Leighton opened the centre for local communities to explore art and craft in a rural setting. Since then, we have been offering a beautiful space that connects visitors to art, history, and the landscape.
