QuantumCamp is a school enterprise with a core mission of delivering amazing, hands-on math and science courses to kids via three main platforms:
Both homeschoolers and summer campers come from all backgrounds and from all academic skill levels. QuantumCamp students come from all nine Bay Area counties. There are 155 homeschool students currently enrolled. In the summer, we serve between 250 and 300 students.
Our permanent staff consists full-time and part-time members who work both on curriculum development and student instruction. Many of our teachers hold Ph.D.’s and/or Master’s degrees. During the summer, we bring aboard a dedicated team of teachers, graduate students, and counselors.
Designing great courses is our passion! As a team of professional scientists and mathematicians, we are continually searching out the most exciting, beautiful, and relevant topics to bring to students. We keep each course and camp centered around a singular idea and design a sequence of experiments and activities which allows the student to discover – on their own – this idea. Because our courses are exclusively hands-on, they are completely accessible to all types of learners. As a result of these experiences, students feel a charge of accomplishment and satisfaction and begin to think about learning in a brand new way.
Excite your school’s math and science to the highest quantum state. Bring fully functional Science and Math labs into your classroom. During or after school, recurrent or single events. QC offers full math and science courses for students in grades 1 through 8. We will provide the learning environment that best fits your needs as an educator or event planner.
A full suite of activities, readings, videos, recaps, and problem sets accompany the courses. Learning extends beyond the lab!
QuantumCamp is a one-day per week school for homeschoolers in 1st through 8th grade consisting of a complete math and science curriculum. We pose intriguing problems for the students to solve through hands-on activities and experiments, giving each school day impact and meaning. Students hypothesize, discuss, experiment, make mistakes, experiment again, debate, reflect, share and ultimately try to make sense of their work. They discover something new and leave excited to learn more about it.
Learning does not stop after the QC day; it extends throughout the week through a set of digital extensions delivered to the students. Extensions might be practice sets, videos, readings, activities to try, places to visit – all tied to the fascinating work from the school day. Throughout the week, students revisit the ideas from different perspectives and in different locations, which help reinforce the concepts they learn in the classroom. Then they come back for the next class ready to learn the next interesting idea.
Sneak in some math and science this summer! Neither a traditional summer school, nor an extracurricular program, QC summer camp creates a memorable camp experience centered around math and science projects. Students investigate exciting ideas and become energized about learning – all while making great friends! Students connect with profound ideas in math and science and carry that knowledge with them back into their schools inspired to learn. Imagine that in the middle of summer!
