The UMLAUF Garden & Museum exhibits the work of Charles Umlauf, an award-winning American sculptor and philanthropist who was born in Austin, Texas. In 1985, Charles and his wife Angeline Umlauf gifted their carriage house, art studio, eight-acre property, and sculptures to the City of Austin to educate the public.
The UMLAUF's gallery and terrace opened in 1991. Since then, it has been committed to educating the public about art. It strives to be a beautiful, approachable, and accessible venue offering great programs to residents and visitors.
The permanent collection at UMLAUF consists of Charles Umlauf's sculptures, which showcase his talent for creating pieces from a variety of materials, including exotic woods, terra cotta, cast stone, bronze, marbles, and alabasters. Umlauf sculpted family groupings, whimsical animals, religious and mythological figures, and sensuous nudes. UMLAUF also hosts current exhibitions.
