About

Startup Skool is a community of creatives, trailblazers, visionaries, and most importantly, entrepreneurs. We are committed to educating youth how to think with an entrepreneurial mindset, so that one day they can tackle society’s most difficult social and environmental problems.

The landscape is changing. Careers that once existed are becoming obsolete. Youth are growing up educated yet inexperienced. The entrepreneurial mindset is about passion for solving real problems, creating opportunities in challenges, and adapting and growing in ever-changing circumstances. We need to prepare the next generation for this new landscape. Our programs focus on the core principles of entrepreneurship, design thinking, and technology. Through Startup Skool youth are equipped with the soft, technical, and creative skills required to tackle the world in front of them.

Summer Camps 2017:

Innovation Camp: This hands-on program will bring together creative youth ages 8 – 11 to explore entrepreneurship, the basics of coding and collaborate with like-minded peers and local entrepreneurs. Throughout the week, students will be challenged to innovate their own ideas, test the market, build prototypes and finally, pitch their ideas to to a “Dragons’ Den” panel of respected local entrepreneurs. By the end of the camp, these young innovators will be equipped with the foundation to embark on their entrepreneurial journey.

Design Thinkers: his hands-on program will bring together creative youth ages 12 – 16 to explore the principles of design thinking, learn about brand identity, build digital and physical products around the needs and wants of consumers and be exposed to the endless possibilities of careers in design and entrepreneurship. Students will be challenged to build wireframes, prototypes and run tests on users – all while using industry tools like Invision, Sketch, Canva and more! Most notably, students will be broken into teams, given a real world business design challenge to work on throughout the week, and then have the chance to pitch their innovations to the creators of that business themselves.

Tech Entrepreneurs: This hands-on program will bring together youth ages 12-16 to explore the fundamentals of technology entrepreneurship, and collaborate with like-minded peers and local entrepreneurs. Throughout the week, students will engage with guest speakers who are experts in the tech world, as well as be exposed to a variety of industry specific businesses like medical technology, clean technology and e-commerce. Our classes mix theory with practice, so students will be challenged to innovate their own ideas, test the market, build prototypes and finally, pitch their ideas to to a “Dragons’ Den” panel of respected local entrepreneurs. By the end of the camp, these young innovators will be equipped with the foundation to embark on their entrepreneurial journey.

Shopify & T-Shirts: This intensive program is for ambitious teens ages 13 - 18 to learn how to create, launch, and run their own online t-shirt business. Students will learn graphic design through Illustrator, develop strong written communication, build financial literacy, social media, and marketing skills. By the end of the camp, these teens will be equipped with the foundation to embark on their online journey.

Camps available in Victoria and Vancouver. Registration opens February 28th, 2017!
