Austin YMBL Sunshine Camps opened our doors in 1928. For more than 80 years, we have worked with youth living below the poverty line to provide an awesome summer camp experience free of charge. Youth spend one week playing at Zilker Park, canoeing on Lake Austin, attending carnival nights and watching plays at Zilker Hillside Theatre. Since inception, we've served more than 47,000 youth in Central Texas.
In the mid 90's Austin Sunshine Camp wanted to increase our impact on the youth we were serving and began two year round academic programs called the Sunrise Programs. The Sunrise Programs work with 75 students each year in grades 6-12. The programs work to increase students life and academic skills with weekly tutoring, community service, weekend retreats and workshops. Since 2001, 100% of students in the leadership program have graduated from high school. We are VERY proud of our students and their success!
THE MISSION of Austin Sunshine Camps is to engage and empower youth through education and outdoor experience.
Through the generous support of the Young Men's Business League, Austin Sunshine Camps has provided FREE fun-filled overnight summer camp programs for the children of greater Austin since 1928.
