Vancouver is arguably one of the best cities in the world to raise a family! With countless community events, kid-friendly festivals, and seasonal activities, it doesn’t matter if it is a scorching summer day, or drizzly December afternoon, your family will always have something to do.
Pop on your toques before heading to downtown Vancouver, along Canada Street, to start the year off right at the annual fireworks display. We recommend staying bundled for the Family Day, in February, as your kids will want to spend the whole day outside participating in the countless free events and activities that the city has to offer.
Vancouver really starts heating up in the spring with fun festivals and sporting events. By March, the cherry blossoms are out and the city is colourful and alive. One of our personal favourite spring festivals is the International Children’s Festival held at Vanier Park every May.
However, summer is really when Vancouver starts to sizzle! Besides the awesome beaches, parks, and museums, we suggest hitting up the PNE, the Dragon Boat Festival, or Maplewood Farm to truly take advantage of the exceptional weather and stunning scenery. Not the mention, celebrating Canada Day in Vancouver is a must! Your kids will love the fireworks, live entertainment, and Canadian pride.
Even in the fall, when the weather starts to cool off, the city still has so much to offer. For Halloween check out the Stanley Park Ghost Train, and the Pumpkin Patch and Richmond Country Farms, for a scary good time. Once December hits we suggest finishing the year off right with one of the many winter and Christmas festivals, for kids in Vancouver and the surrounding metropolitan area. Our personal favourites include the Rogers Santa Claus Parade, the Holiday Hi-Light Festival, and the Peak of Christmas at the Grouse Mountain.
