A Mindful Approach to Whiteness (Bay Area)

A Mindful Approach to Whiteness (Bay Area)

A Mindful Approach to Whiteness (Bay Area)

This workshop is for self-identified white educators and will provide a chance to engage in a mindfulness-informed exploration of our white racial conditioning together in community. For those of us who identify as white, it can be challenging to come to grips with:

The deep impact that historical systemic racism and white supremacy has had on our society and people of color

The ways in which our racial blind spots and implicit bias manifest and impact those around us

The racial privilege that has benefited us as white people and distorted our world view

The ways that these phenomena have also negatively impacted us as white people

This journey of white racial awakening offers a tremendous opportunity for personal and professional change. To help guide this process of seeing more clearly our relationship to whiteness and race, we’ll be using a variety of experiential practices, small group discussions, and simple mindfulness meditations. All experience levels in racial justice work and mindfulness meditation are welcome to attend.
