Movie + Mochi: Satoshi Kon's Tokyo Godfathers

Movie + Mochi: Satoshi Kon's Tokyo Godfathers

This activity has finished and is no longer running.

Please note, this event will be on the SECOND Wednesday of December, since people get so busy as it gets close to Christmas/New Years

Tonight we celebrate the holiday season with mochi and a movie! Come make your own mochi...we will have a variety of toppings or soup to choose from and will show you what to do. Then we'll sit down and watch Tokyo Godfather while we eat our holiday treats.

Tokyo Godfathers (Tōkyō Goddofāzāzu) is a 2003 animated film by Satoshi Kon (famous for Paprika, Millenium Actress, and others). This comedy follows the story of three homeless people who are on a quest to find the parents of an abandoned newborn baby that they found while looking through the trash. A mystery full of twists and turns plays out on screen as the three uncover clues, save lives, and meet many shadowy figures of the underworld.

Trailer (this one is in English, but hopefully we will be able to get the movie in Japanese with English subtitles):

Please arrive on time so we can start on time! It's okay to show up a little bit early if you like.

We'll use our projector and screen for watching the film. This is a free event, but we ask for donations for food and tea. Hope to see you there!
