Childcare is free but you will have to purchase a ticket for the performance of your choice - November 10 at 2pm | November 23 at 4pm
“…so damn funny…” Toronto Star
Who gets to tell your story?
Lila is a black police officer who shot a young unarmed black man. Tim is a white playwright who used the incident as a “jumping off point” for his hit play. That play is being made into a Hollywood movie — without Lila’s knowledge. As Hollywood comes knocking, Tim decides to make a surprise visit to Lila’s home to avoid media backlash. Filled with tension, suspense and riddled with humour, Kat Sandler’s smashing take on race and culture will have you questioning the meaning behind the phrase “based on a true story.”
It’s a super-funny sitcom-style comedy – allowing us to laugh at serious issues and timely themes – including racial profiling, voice appropriation, ego, selfishness – and the sometimes incomprehensible world of the theatre!
Yes, you can see a show at the Belfry and we’ll take care of your kids!
To help young parents experience the Belfry, we offer inexpensive tickets and free childcare (for children aged 3 – 10) for young families on select weekend afternoons.
Your children will be looked after by a trained, professional ECE, only a short stroll away from the theatre.
You can sign your children up when you buy individual tickets for any of these shows, or as part of a season ticket package. Childcare space must be reserved in advance, at least 1 week prior to your chosen performance.
Plans change? You can swap between matinees within the same show, or give your ticket and childcare spot to another parent friend – simply let us know by the Friday before your performance.
To learn more, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the box office at 250-385-6815 to reserve your tickets and free childcare.
