Sign-up for the 2019 Saskatoon area Photography Field Class!
This classic Saskatoon area event* is unforgettable.
In the fields of prairie Canada, especially Saskatchewan, are some of the most impressive and photogenic old relics found anywhere! In comparison to other regions with similar finds, the rundown beauty of these rustic old places blows me away.
Hidden gems can be found almost anywhere... if you know where to look! Years spent exploring backroads talking to people, explaining why a photographer from a national magazine has traveled this far to ask for permission to photograph their homestead. Through passionate storytelling accounts and how best to photograph the locations you'll be drawn to, you'll gain insider info on how national magazine photo editors expect you to photograph your story... another reason why you are registering for this workshop. Anyone can take great photos and you are the proof... yet, have you ever wondered after each of your awesome photo experiences "oh ok, great shot... now what do I do with it?"
Let me show you.
On Saturday, we'll spend our morning SE of town and the afternoon photographing abandoned Ukrainian churches hidden among the trees. On Sunday, we'll ventue west to an authentic ghost town where we have permission to be at. Late September is a great time of year for fall foliage and we'll capture hints of gold, orange and red amongst the old buildings dotting the horizon. While there will be hundreds of beautiful scenes to shoot, we'lll focus on the challenge of finding what is both interesting and photogenic. By keeping the group small we can react quickly to changing conditions and scout new locations. The overall goal being to help train your eye to see beauty in the details that surround us in everyday life.
All skill levels of photography experience are welcome, including beginner.
