Black America: Celebrating Cultural Food Traditions

Join Slow Food East Bay for the next in our 2019 series celebrating diverse culinary traditions!

Sunday August 25th, join us to eat and learn - Chefs Rashad and Fernay will be sharing their soul food and BBQ (come hungry!), much made from family recipes! The Great Migration brought many from the south out to California and food traditions came with them. Shakirah Simley with join the chefs for a conversation about Black culinary heritage and how property ownership (or lack thereof) affects a community's development.

Slow Food East Bay’s upcoming series of events celebrates the cultural food traditions of immigrants and displaced people, learning how food helps people stay connected to homeland and also engage with new communities. Attendees will be inspired by stories from chefs and community organizations, learning how diversity and migration have helped our food system evolve.... And, frankly, be more delicious!

Speaking of delicious, our menu for the evening is in the works.
