Doors Open - Todmorden Mills

Imagine the busy whirl of daily activity in Todmorden Mills, the small industrial community that provided lumber, flour, beer and bricks to the growing city of Toronto. Today, this heritage site consists of four in situ structures: two historic houses, the former Brewery building as well as the Papermill Theatre and Gallery. Discover the lives of Toronto working families as seen through the two historic homes restored to the 1890s and wartime 1940s. Tours of the Papermill Theatre will be included on Saturday, May 25 only, and free guided walks of the 9.2 hectare Wildflower Preserve will be offered both days. Visitors can share their memories of Todmorden and participate in collaborative murals in the Brewery. There will be outdoor games and scavenger hunts, and 3D paper model making. Todmorden Mills is one of 10 Toronto History Museums which explore where Toronto's many pasts, presents and futures meet. Set in the scenic Don Valley, the site is a complex of historic buildings which were once part of the small industrial community of Todmorden.
