WE ALL HAVE A BIT OF CHRISTOPHER ROBIN IN US

Manitoba Theatre for Young People presents The House at Pooh Corner from November 30 to December 30.

Winnipeg’s most famous bear makes a return appearance to help you and your family celebrate the holiday season. As if by magic, the entire theatre will be transformed into the world of Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. Fewer than 200 at a time will experience the intimate and delightful world of The Hundred Acre Wood.

"Our childhood games form potent, emotional memories," says MTYP Artistic Director Pablo Felices-Luna. "Sometimes, we marvel at what entertained us as children and wonder who else could have possibly enjoyed that game, that story, that flight of imagination.

“When something reaches the echelon of Pooh’s adventures in The Hundred Acre Wood, we get to relish in the shared and complicit knowledge of those iconic characters. The House at Pooh Corner allows us all to unleash our inner Christopher Robin and share these cherished stories with people we love."

The Hundred Acre Wood as A.A. Milne’s classic tale will come to life just in time for the holidays. Winnie-the-Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore and Christopher Robin adventure through the woods before Christopher heads off to school.

As director of the production, Felices-Luna is a fan of participatory theatre and for each show, the actors will choose a different Christopher Robin for every scene.

“By doing it this way, we remind the audience that we all have a Christopher Robin in us,” says Felices-Luna. “Christopher Robin doesn’t look or act a certain way, he looks like you, like me, like her, like him. We are all (a little bit) Christopher Robin.”

MTYP is located at the Forks. The company’s box office is open weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Call 204.942.8898. Or you can buy online at www.mtyp.ca
