It’s the most colourful event of the year! The annual Calgary Pride Parade – the signature event that colours all of downtown Calgary with rainbows and smiles! Originally a small march of LGBT Calgarians, some of whom wore masks and bags over their faces to protect from persecution, the event has grown in leaps and bounds to become the second biggest parade in Calgary. Today, Calgary Pride welcomes non profit organizations, businesses big and small, politicians, political parties, churches, unions, and more, all to come together and celebrate Calgary’s diversity. This incredible gathering of inclusive and diverse organizations draws tens of thousands of spectators each year, and showcases the diversity of Calgary’s community. The parade route starts at 350 6 Ave SE and follows along 6 Ave, turning right onto 6 St SW and ending at Prince's Island Park where you can keep the party going for the "Pride in the Park" festival! Pride in the Park is one of Calgary’s largest FREE outdoor cultural celebrations! There’s a little something for everyone with live music and entertainment, the Shell family zone, food trucks, wellness area, and more. The Calgary Pride Festival aims to be a welcoming and family-friendly space for all attendees, and one of the big attractions is the Shell Family Zone! With plenty of crafts, activities and performances throughout the day, kids of all ages will find something for them!
