LET’S THROW POTTERY TOGETHER (No, not against the wall, silly) ON THE WHEEL!!!
Join us while we explore the world of clay and how to shape it on the pottery wheel. The class will cover the basics, such as clay types and characteristics, wedging, trimming, glazing techniques and studio safety, but mastering the fundamental skills involved in “throwing” pots on the wheel will be our main goal. In this hands-on beginner’s class, we will first work on the initial hurdle of centering the clay; after that, creating a simple cylinder will open the door to fashioning all kinds of wonderful shapes!
Wheel work may not be as easy as it looks, but practice makes progress which is why we suggest you sign up for at least three to five classes in order to get more practice and be able to finish your pots with a glazing class. Or try one wheel class to see if this is for you, and if it is, come back again and again to improve your technique and make more pots! Clay, equipment, tools and glazes provided at no extra charge by Make Nashville.
To create "finished" works, you will need to sign up for multiple classes. When you have completed your first class, we will give you a coupon code so that you can sign up for future sessions. (You can sign up for any wheel class sessions - at your own pace.)
