Salamander spotting at Hemlock Ravine Park

Event at Museum of Natural History

Time Price
Wed, 8:15pm - 9:15pm

Every year around this time, the incredible Yellow-spotted Salamander emerge from their burrows in Hemlock Ravine Park and migrate to the Heart-shaped Pond to breed. You can catch a glimpse of them if you are there just after dark.

What to bring: rubber boots, warm jacket and maybe hats/mitts, a headlamp or flashlight, a camera perhaps (with a flash), and a towel to wipe your hands off after the event. Please don’t use harsh soaps or hand sanitizers on your hands before coming to the event.

What to do next: register with me! Send a quick email to ynchalifax at yncns dot ca with how many people are coming from your family. Then start to get excited about your upcoming encounter with the amazing Yellow-spotted Salamanders!
