Winter Adventure Week

Enjoy all things winter at Elk Island National Park! Kick things off on Family Day, February 19, with live music, snow games, and treats roasted over the fire in the Astotin Lake Recreation Area!

Fun continues through the week with snowshoeing, skating, wildlife viewing, and drop-in programs. Join in the fun with friends and family all week long!

Bison don't hibernate and neither should you; get outside and embrace winter with a number of outdoor activities all week!

Stop by the Visitor Centre between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm to pick-up a park map, rent snowshoes, or borrow a geocaching kit
Count all the wildlife you see while driving the Bison Loop and Elk Island Parkway
Bring your skates and enjoy a game of shinny or skate around Archer Island on Astotin Lake
Be sure to bring your skates
Find fresh snowfall identify wildlife tracks in the snow
Catch an early sunset and explore the starry night sky
Hike, snowshoe, or fat-bike over 80 km of trails
1:00 to 3:00 pm

Wildlife in winter - Learn about how bison, North America's largest land mammal, and other wildlife adapt to survive frigid prairie winters
