NW Film Center Kid Flicks: The Eagle Huntress in SW PDX

Event at Northwest Film Center's Whitsell Auditorium

Time Price
Sat, 2pm - 11:59pm

Among the isolated Kazakh tribe in the mountains of northwest Mongolia, only men have practiced the long tradition of eagle hunting. Bell’s film follows Aisholpan, a 13-year-old girl, as she trains to become the first female in 12 generations of her family to become an eagle hunter. Her decision causes controversy among older members of the community, but Aisholpan embarks on a strict program of training and this inspiring film captures her courage. “As unlikely as it is enchanting . . . [a] documentary story with such sureness that falling under its sway is all but inevitable.”—Los Angeles Times. English narration, and Kazakh with English subtitles.
