Fifth Annual Hal-Con Halloween Street Parade

START AND ENDS – Halifax New Central Library,
Front Plaza area – Queen St / Spring Garden Road

Halifax and Hal-Con knows Halloween isn’t just for
the 31st of October … we’re going to prove it again!

Saturday, October 28th 2017, presume Rain OR Shine …
Downtown Halifax will see the 5th Hal-Con Halloween
Parade! This event page will be updated to provide as
much information as possible to all invited groups as
well as Hal-Con committee, volunteers, and friends who
want to participate in this Parade that has gone so well
over the past four years.

With that in mind, we are changing things up this year!

The organizers of this parade event are welcoming dogs
to walk alongside their two-legged parade goers, as well
as service animals. There will even be a Parade Award
given to the best turned-out four-legged Parade participant!
This event page will have an attached copy of the parade’s
Rules and Regulations, which include stipulations for those
wishing to include a canine participant. Please also refer
to this link: http://new.halifax.ca/animalservices/Dogs.php

ALSO! This year the parade will welcome and encourage the
inclusion and use of cardboard box materials – for example,
foot-propelled cardboard cars, sandwich-board style outfits,
or just cardboard material to add to or improve your cosplay!
OR! If you want to take part but aren't sure what you can wear
or you don't have an end-of-October weather ready outfit!!
We will have an award for this as well, so even though we
remind all to be family-friendly, we want you to get creative!

Many Groups will receive social media and e-mail invites to
take part, which will include information on important times
and route information, which they will be asked to rsvp,
so that groups can be entered to be judged for prizes.

However! Hal-Con will also need “GreenShirts” to not only
carry Hal-Con’s Banner but also be Route Monitors and
Walkers - so, the more volunteers and friends, the better!
Here are some of the important times of the event
schedule: (please note, as with past years, this is a
Walking Event parade - no motorized vehicles, and
No live animals, with exceptions of canines on collars
and leashes as per HRM bylaws, + service animals).
