Looking for a great extra curricular activity for your Gr.7 to Gr.12 daughter?
FRC robotics is the ultimate Sport for the Mind. Student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have." The positive impact on FIRST Robotics Competition participants is gratifying and well documented. Over 88% have more interest in doing well in school and 92% are more interested in attending college.
But wait?! Why are there so few girls! The Intimitrons from Area 51 are the first all-girl FRC team in Western Canada and we are committed to helping our younger peers experience the amazing world of STEM. Check out our website (we made it ourselves)!
We are currently planning our Intro-trons program for Fall 2017. Intro-trons is the training program we run with our mentors to introduce girls to FRC and STEM skills. On Thursday September 21st, we are holding an Open House for girls aged 12-18 to come and check out what our program is all about and even take Ophelia for a test drive!
After going through our Intro-Trons program, girls gain confidence and learn they can do things they never thought they could do. This team is all about learning and making sure everyone has a chance to try everything. And we have a very dedicated group of mentors from the University and Industry that often work with the team one-on-one to learn new skills.
Anyone can participate in Intro-Trons - no previous skills or experience is required. Please make sure to accompany your daughter at the Open House so our mentors can fill you in on the program and help you sign up for Intro-trons... don't forget to enter to win our cool STEM door prize and grab a slice of pizza.
If you can't make it to the open house, don't worry! Our doors are always open. Just send mail to to arrange a visit at another time. Hope to see you there!
