Well into the twentieth century there was persistent opposition to the idea that a woman should - or could - farm. Historian at the University of Alberta, Sarah Carter will share stories of the select few women who, with a gutsy display of defiance, managed to slip past the strict homesteadings laws and establish farms of their own on the prairies.
