Enrol your children into something truly unique this summer with the Vancouver Children Gamelan summer program! and it's FREE!

We are hosting the first of its kind program in Vancouver! Come and experience the Balinese tradition of music making in an ensemble environment, where children will learn about the Balinese culture, music and dancing via oral tradition in an collaborative nature. Highly emphasized in group effort, this program provides a valuable and interactive experience that children can take away and share with their peers!

The gamelan is an Indonesian orchestra made up of mostly pitched percussion instruments. It is the centre of Balinese art and culture and an important part in sustaining Balinese traditions. Every temple of every village in Bali has its own gamelan and children would start playing at a very young age with their peers. Musicians learn via oral tradition to master techniques and memorize the music in an ensemble environment. The emphasis on collaboration is their way to strengthen community and create lasting friendships.

Because we are a non-profit organization, only a $50 registration fee is required. Yes, there is no program fee!
