We will be offering spring break work shops for tween/ Teens ages 11-16.
Each day we will explore a different crafting experience. Students will learn and work with many different art mediums during the week, and they will take home something fun and functional everyday.
Tuesday, March 31 - We will start off the week by learning how to work with Vegetable tanned leather. Students will choose to make any of our leather projects, (wallet, clutch, eyeglass case, bracelet or earrings) They will learn the basic techniques of cutting, prepping and dyeing leather, and then assembling their project.
Wednesday, April 1st – Day 2 we will have some fun with hammers and nails and dive into the old craft of string art. Popular from the 70’s, this craft has come back into full “string”. Students can choose any pattern we have available to make, or we can print out something special for them upon request.
Thursday, April 2nd – Day 3 we will be busy working on two craft projects. First, we will get a little messy and dive into Fluid paint pouring. Students will learn the basic techniques of fluid art on a small test canvas first. Then we will move to a larger canvas for the final project. Second part of the day, we will have some fun working with cement. Students will choose to make one of three cement plant pots. They will mix and cast the cement, then paint, decorate, and finally select a plant for the pot to take home and care for.
Friday, April 3rd – The final day, we will have some fun and make a sunburst mirror. Students will have to be patient for this one. They will paint more then 60 individual sticks, and then attach each individual stick to create this décor craft. We will also enjoy a pizza lunch together provided by DIY Craft Bar.
