Fall Rowing, Novice (New Rower)

Fall Rowing, Novice (New Rower)

The Pocock Youth Beginning Racing Team will develop rowers for racing and build a strong foundation in a lifelong sport. The beginning racing team is for high school students or eighth graders with coaches approval. No experience necessary.

The Pocock Beginning Racing Team will train rowers for the Olympic Rowing Model. With the Olympic Model, rowers will gain competency in all Olympic class boats 1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, 8+, and 4+ instead of 4- to match our regional and national championship events. Building a breadth and strength of boat skill will generate greater athletic base and appreciation of the sport. Purposely building a strong and broad base of athleticism during land training and combining it with boat and racing skills learned on the water creates a competitive advantage in races and sets the stage for more speed on the experienced racing team, college, and beyond.

Team culture and personal development is what makes us successful. It is our aim to have fun working hard to build integrity, compassion, competitive spirit, toughness, purpose, passion, and time management.

We employ a Core Coaching System, which utilizes collaborative coaching and solutions for the best education, training programs, and technical progression for rowers at every level. A team of coaches working to implement the Core Plan will develop rowers for the next level so that each rower finds their optimal challenge that will allow for the most growth. We construct the plan based on best practices and collaboration with development and national team coaches and programs from the United States and across the world.
