Junior Kelvin's Kitchen (Mornings Only)
Everyone has to eat, and engineers are involved in all the steps of getting food from a farm to your table. Engineers help figure out how to make food, package it, and how to deliver it to your table. During this camp, your child will learn the engineering behind the fishing industry and how to protect other animals and the coral reef in the process, how designing the perfect environment for plants to grow can help increase food production, and learn how chemical and industrial engineers concoct different tasty recipes and manufacture them quickly using assembly lines to produce tasty treats in the quickest way possible.
Your child will be building designs, playing games, and be involved in several different activities throughout the week to drive home to impact that many different types of engineers have in the foods we eat!
In Kelvin’s Kitchen, your child will explore environmental, industrial, chemical, and marine engineering. He or she will explore protecting and restoring the ocean environment and ecosystem, creating the perfect condition for plants to grow, different ways to mix chemicals to make recipes, and design efficient ways for food factories to produce quality food.
Junior Wings, Wheels, and Sails (Afternoons Only)
Everyone has to travel, and engineers are involved in all the steps of designing different modes of transportation as well as inventing and designing tools that aid in travel.
Everyone’s travel needs are different, weather they need to walk around their local community to do errands, or they need to be half way across the world by evening! During this camp, your child will get their passports and travel to a new country every day by a different means! They will engineer their mode of transportation or tool to aid in transportation daily to get to their destination country. At the end of the week, they will have built several different means to travel by, and have a passport full of culture and all their memories from the week from the places they visited.
In Wings, Wheels, and Sails, your child will explore areas of engineering such as mechanical, civil, marine, and aerospace engineering. They will explore the thought process behind road design, construct shapes that make sound bridges and test them, design a boat to float across the ocean, and discover and build designs that let us travel through the air and even into space.
