Dark Ages Engineering (Morning Only)
Despite the loss of so much knowledge after the fall of the Roman Empire, there were a huge number of engineering innovations that were developed or rediscovered during the Dark Ages. Crossbows, drawbridges, towers, cranes, the compass, and more were reintroduced during those times. All memory of democracy that had developed in ancient times was lost and power was again concentrated in the hands of the feudal lords and ladies in their castle.

Because owning land meant more power, many lords and ladies went to battle with other lords and ladies, trying to take their castle and control their land. This led to many incredible devices being engineered, such as catapults. Your child will join a group to form their own feudal court of lords and ladies. They will try to beat out the other teams in various challenges to show their prowess and be crowned kings and queens of the land with the Engineering for Kids Crown.

In Dark Ages Engineering, your child will explore mechanical and civil engineering. They will build infrastructure for their lands including bridges and towers, construct catapults to lay siege to others, and take part in jousting games. And perhaps their technical developments will set the stage for the renaissance and enlightenment that will surely come again.
Video Game Design (Afternoon Only)
Video game design is one of the most imagination driven forms of engineering. Physics or real world issues do not bind video game designers unlike conventional engineers. Anything a video game designer can think up he or she can build without limitations by funding or safety protocols. Many times we like to say the sky is the limit of what we can achieve but for electronic game engineers the limit is where ever they wish to stop.

The compiled version of all of the video games will be distributed via Drop Box (this means your child will receive more than just their games). These files work best on computers with MS Windows environments. The software is Clickteam Fusion 2.5.
