The Giant Who Chased the Moon and Other Balinese Tales

Conservatory is a multi-disciplinary series of rehearsals, performances, workshops
and discussions taught by the entire DRAMA at The Rose professional staff. It is for
committed, intermediate-to-advanced students only and covers the topics of actor
training, stage combat, improvisation, movement for actors, vocal diction and projection,
playwriting, directing, scenography (sets, lights, costumes, sound, and make-up),
dancing, and singing.
This year, Conservatory will be exploring Eastern Theater techniques from Japan,
Indonesia, and India. They will be performing in the world premiere adaptation of three
Balinese folktales developed specifically for the conservatory performance ensemble,
in which they will be utilizing shadow puppets, performing traditional dance as well as
creating the musical landscape of our stories.
Scripts included in the production were written by local teen playwright Paige Wolfe and
two Rose teaching artists,Kendra Ball and Stephanie Jacobson
