The Centre is fully Licensed and Child Care Subsidies are welcome. The Staff are experienced and well-trained. Criminal Record checks & First Aid certificates are mandatory. Receipts for tax purposes will be provided.
This is the 24th year that Camp Ridgeview has operated a Summer Program. Once again we have fun filled & adventurous activities planned for the children. We are a home-from-home. The children bring their own lunch and we provide two nutritious snacks a day.
The program is most suitable for children 4 years (Kindergarten age) to 8/9 years old.
The Summer Program will be “Backyard Adventures” and consists of picnics everywhere, visits to the beach, bike riding, walks to local parks, tent play, playground activities, cooking, clay work, art and crafts. We plan to have lots of water play, with sponge & water balloon games, sprinkler and waterslide fun! Freezies and Ice Creams rule too! All this is rolled into 9 fun-filled theme weeks.
The program runs from July 3 - August 31, 2018 and registration will start in April 2018. Weekly details below.
Week 1. SCHOOL’S OUT!! 3 - 6 July (Monday is a holiday)
Splash into Summer with Backyard Adventures for fun in the sun! Meet up with old summer buddies or get to know new ones! We’ll have water play, beach fun, and a picnic at John Lawson Park. We’ll also meet some real live Firemen at the Fire Hall and get up close with a real Fire Engine!
Week 2. INTREPID TRAVELLERS! 9 - 13 July
Okay, maybe it’s not the Grand Canyon, but our intrepid travellers will visit and become Rainforest Explorers in the Kids Treetops Adventure at the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The Great Picnic-ers of Summer will unite and experience the delights of Jericho Beach for fun in the sun!
Week 3. SHIVER ME TIMBERS! 16 – 20 July
Are you a Skipper or a Mate? Join us as we travel the high seas to Granville Island on the Aquabus! Enjoy a tricky scavenger hunt and see what exciting treasure we can find there. We’ll dine al fresco on our spoils! Cast off into uncharted territory in our Pirate best (we’ll make our own hats & eye patches) as we set sail in the Pirate Ship at Cates Park and search for hidden treasure at Ambleside.
Week 4. WET AND WILD! 23 - 27 July
Water, water everywhere! Prepare to get wet and wild as we spend the summer days splishin’-and-a-splashin’ at the best Water Parks in town! Become an ace super soaker, sponge fighter & slip’n slider and have fun at New Brighton Pool. We’ll even have a taste of Hawaii on our exotic Luau Day.
Week 5. ANIMALS GALORE! 30 July – 3 August
Wild and tame – they’re all the same! Get out your hiking shoes, grab a handful of trail mix, and fly high up to Grouse Mountain! Bears, birds of prey and crazy loggers are waiting for us there! We’ll make our own critter pets and be slippery worms on the slip n’ slide and enjoy an exciting visit from Cinema Zoo (the people who provide animals for films).
Week 6. SPORTY STUFF! 7 – 10 August (Monday is a holiday)
We’ll reach for the top at The Edge Climbing Centre and participate in our own Field sports, Water sports and Races and practice our mini-golf skills at Seymour Creek. Bring your bikes & helmets but leave your scooters and roller blades at home! We’ll create our own healthy lunch to take to the Great Summer Picnic at Ambleside - Camp Ridgeview’s Subway rules!
Week 7. THEN AND NOW! 13 - 17 August
Go back in time at Burnaby Village Museum to see how people lived in the olden days. Watch a theatre show and ride the Carousel horses. Switch to now and meet some real horses, chickens, cows and rabbits and all the other animals at Maplewood Farm!
Week 8. ROCKIN’ ROYALTY! 20 – 24 August
Eat like a King, dress like a Queen and act like a Jester……but it won’t be complete without a Castle – a bouncy Castle, and our very own Magician! Create your own crown, tiara and bejewelled flagstone. Top it off with a (sand) Castle competition at Ambleside Beach then cool down with a swim and a visit to Dairy Queen!
Week 9. OOSE & GOOs! 27 August – 31 August
This is week is not for the faint hearted – so look out the old clothes, get messy, make mistakes!! Flubber, slime, ooze, jelly, finger & feet painting all rule! Don’t worry, we’ll wash it all off with fun water fights! To complete our Summer Camp capers we’ll be Beach Bums at Ambleside and wind the week up with an International Pot Luck Feast, when we can try all sorts of goodies from different cultures.
