The Lullaby Class: For New and Expectant Parents

Run by Willamette Valley Music Together

New and Expectant Parents invited to Discover the Power - and Joy - of The Lullaby!

The Lullaby Class is a 3-week session of music classes designed specifically for expectant and new parents with special techniques and activities for infants under 8 months. Wendy Reznicsek, an Early Childhood Music Specialist and the Director of Willamette Valley Music Together will introduce participants to the many ways in which lullabies are so important for a child's development. They will learn new lullabies, revisit childhood favorites, and leave with new ways to share these songs with their baby and other children at home. Music Together® is renowned for its accessible methods of singing, dancing, and literally playing with music in the company of other families.

Classes will meet for 75 minutes each week for a total of 3 weeks. Included in each family’s tuition is a Parents' Choice Award-winning Music Together® CD "Lullabies" with a download code to share the music across multiple devices. Techniques, resources, and souvenir props will be provided for use in class and at home, and parents will enjoy lively, relevant topics of discussion each week as they get acquainted with other families.

Classes will be held February 28 – March 17, with sessions in Sherwood, Canby, and Oregon City.

Families may sign up online at Spaces are limited and reservations are required. Call Willamette Valley Music Together at (971) 678-6742 for further information.

More about Music Together®

The Music Together® curriculum is a rich, immersive music and movement program specifically designed for very young learners and their grownups.

Music Together® pioneered the concept that all children are sounders and movers, and their natural aptitude for music blossoms in a sufficiently rich music environment. In fact, when given a supportive music environment, children learn to sing and dance as naturally as they learn to walk and talk. Now, for hundreds of thousands of families worldwide, Music Together® is children and their grownups joyfully sharing songs, rhymes, movement, and instrument play, both in music class and in their daily lives.

The Adult Caregiver Role Is Essential.
Young children learn through play and experimentation and by watching and listening to the grownups they love. Setting an example as an enthusiastic participator in music activities is the best thing any parent or caregiver can do to help set a child on the road to a lifelong love of music. Parents don't need to have music skills—they just need a desire to play and have fun with their children! Music Together® teachers are specially trained to create a safe atmosphere so families can happily join in, experiment, or even get silly—and feel closer to your child while doing so.

Music Learning Supports All Learning®
Wiggling, singing, and laughing with the children in class is so much fun—it’s easy to forget how much learning is taking place! Our research-based curriculum not only develops music skills, it nurtures creativity, self-expression, and confidence while also supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Because these benefits build over time, children enjoy the fullest growth in each of these areas when they participate as consistently as possible up through second grade.
