Working Towards a Masters Degree in Nature-Based Experiential Learning

Hi, I’m Josie! I am an outdoor educator and avid adventurer currently living and playing in the beautiful Sea to Sky corridor. I am a high school English teacher, and am currently working towards a Masters Degree in Nature-Based Experiential Learning. I have worked in the field of outdoor education for 12 years, for organizations such as Outward Bound, The YMCA, and for the past five years, Fireside Adventures.

My greatest joys in life (aside from my family and friends of course!) are skiing, mountain biking, canoeing, reading, and acting as an advocate for women and youth in the outdoors. I especially love helping women and girls build their skills and knowledge so that they can confidently explore the natural world. Through outdoor skill education, writing and reflection activities, and guided dialogues Artemis Adventures will encourage women to explore their connections to nature, themselves, and others. I am so grateful for the chance to be a part of this journey!

About Fireside’s Artemis
Fireside's Artemis Women In Leadership Adventure Series takes women on multi-day expeditions and outdoor adventures to pristine wilderness areas, like Yukon and Gambier Island, in an effort to release their inner Artemis (Greek Goddess of Wilderness). Artemis programs are carefully crafted to encourage participants to become more confident in the wilderness, while creating the right environment to build and explore a deep connection to the natural world. We offer Artemis because we know the importance of offering opportunities and training for women who want to be surrounded by and be connected with like-minded women who are interested in learning something knew and feeling challenged in a more spiritual and organic way.
