Run by SKAM School of Performing Arts Ages 12-14 yrs

This is a popular program for youth who are keen about theatre and are looking for a challenge in their training. The Winter/Spring term will have a skill development component along with a performance component. Students develop a mini travelling festival of their own creation to be presented in Theatre SKAM’s Pop-Up theatre at local Markets and Festivals in early May. These performances are non-negotiable and part of the commitment to the program. Collaboration and commitment to the ensemble is a crucial part of the learning and it gives students an amazing opportunity to develop street theatre and overall performance skills.

Each student will be supported and encouraged to grow in their dramatic skill development and confidence. Theatre skill level, maturity, commitment and ability to work well with others are all important components that are considered when a student applies for this class.

*Some volunteering will be asked of parents (ie carpooling or driving to venues, help with selling tickets at the door, etc. We do our best to keep the time commitment down for these jobs but as theatre is a labour intensive art, some help is gratefully appreciated.

*Admission to venues the students may be performing at is not included in the class fee. Ticket prices help defray the cost of renting professional venue spaces.
