Story Wheel - Acting for Autism - Ages 12-17

Run by Kaleidoscope Theatre for Young People

Tagged in: Science & Tech, Performing Arts

Love superheroes and mysterious villains? Enjoy ironic twists and satirical snark? Crave comedy, from slapstick to fantasy? Then bring your imagination and join us in a tour around the Story Wheel!

Every class will focus on a story full of classic characters – heroes, villains, sidekicks and mentors – to investigate the reasons why people behave the way they do. We will enter into familiar folk-tales, fairy tales, and classic literature, and explore their themes through drama-based activities, such as frozen “sculptures”, “hot-seat” interviews, speaking the inner thoughts of a character, or devising short scenes in small groups, all within the context of the Story of the Day.

This class is designed for young people on the autism spectrum (or with other social communication difficulties) who have no intellectual disability or neurological speech impairment.
