Simple Machines (Mornings Only)

Industrial Engineering plays a larger role in our daily lives than most would imagine. Individuals employed in this fast-growing field are accountable for maintaining high standards of efficiency in factory settings and ensuring all systems are optimized for maximum production output. Industrial engineers design machinery, parts, and systems that help to promote a steady workflow and minimize many different types of economical waste.

The curriculum for the Junior Industrial Engineering program is designed to introduce your child to simple machinery, cooperative building, and the assembly line processes in a hands-on setting. Your child will actively explore time management, production efficiency, and other aspects of systems and materials engineering during this unit.

Structures

Civil engineering is one of the widest-reaching disciplines in the engineering field. Civil engineers must work cooperatively with architects, local governments, citizens, and other engineers to successfully build large- and small-scale projects. Civil engineers use aspects of physics, mathematics, and computer technology to create plans and drawings that are used by different professionals to build structures.

The curriculum for the Junior Civil Engineering program is designed to introduce your child to the job of a civil engineer, the field of civil engineering, and basic concepts of engineering as it relates to building and construction. Through open exploration and focused exploration, your child will design and construct their own skyscrapers, bridges, and houses.

Aerospace Engineering (Afternoons Only)
What child has not dreamed of flying? Your child will be introduced to the job of an engineer, the field of engineering, and basic concepts of engineering as it relates to the science of aircraft and spacecraft. Through open and focused exploration, your child will construct each of the following: an airplane, a straw rocket, a parachute, a hot-air balloon, and a helicopter. By the end of the unit, each child will be “Licensed to Fly!”

Green Engineering

Are you ready to get down and dirty searching for solutions to some of our biggest environmental problems? Your child will ponder some truly “hot” environmental issues. Your child will save endangered animals, help plants grow and create protection from the sun’s heat. By investigating natural processes like erosion, animal adaptations, and plant growth; we discover ways that we as engineers can be inspired by the world around us to take on all sorts of challenges.
