This science course is a union of zoology, ecology, botany, and microbiology and is built to foster an understanding of Bay Area biodiversity through a hands-on approach to science. Students will employ various sampling techniques (including pitfall traps for insects, motion detection cameras for animals, quadrat sampling for plants, and sterile cell culture for microorganisms) and will explore several components that influence biodiversity (including abiotic factors, animal behavior and, of course, human activities).
