NEW! PUPPETS & PLAYFUL STRUCTURES • Grades 3 – 5

Campers get their hands dirty with clay, make papier-mâché masks and construct a marionette. They make clothes for their puppets and learn to make them walk and talk in preparation for a final presentation.

NEW! COLOR YOUR WORLD • Grades 3 – 5

Campers make and use natural dyes to color paper and fabrics, learn about the history of plants used for dye and plant them in our garden. They practice various dyeing and printing techniques, using stencils and stamps.

Campers check out the world of woodworking, gain fundamental carpentry skills – from sawing to sanding – and use creativity and basic math to build individual projects.

Campers learn basic settings and composition, taking photos at the JCCSF and at unique locations around the city. Campers explore nature, architecture, abstract and portrait photography. In the computer lab, they use tools and tricks to manipulate images and create a final product. Both beginners and experienced photographers welcome. Campers supply their own digital cameras, memory sticks and uploading cards.

TEEN DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY • Grades 6 – 8

Campers learn basic settings and composition, taking photos at the JCCSF and at unique locations around the city. Campers explore nature, architecture, abstract and portrait photography. In the computer lab, they use tools and tricks to manipulate images and create a final product. Both beginners and experienced photographers welcome. NEW! BOOK ARTS • Grades 6 – 8
June 19 – 23
Campers learn the basics of bookmaking, with hands-on introductions to paper making, book binding, inks, marbling, block prints, foam stamps, text stamps and more. Includes a field trip to learn about letterpress printing.

BLOGGING • Grades 6 – 8
August 7 – 11
Campers find their voices through poetry, journalistic observation and photography – all in an age-appropriate environment. Through digital research and local field trips, campers develop blog topics, bringing their ideas to the screen. They learn photo editing techniques and how to set up a blog, then design, write and edit a blog focused on any topic they wish to explore.
