The goals of this class will be tailored for participants with Parkinson Disease and other neuromuscular issues based on research in the area and developing group exercise programs. The brain posesses a large capacity to learn, compensate and repair after injury which can be harnessed through exercise. The class will learn fundamental movement skills, establish and increase body awareness as well as balance and flexibility. You will increase joint mobility and cardiorespiratory fitness while also building strength and power. In partnership with the Parkinson Association of Alberta, participants will have fun while being challenged in a safe and welcoming atmosphere and also meet new people with shared and common goals. This class is open to those with other chronic diseases. A Par-Q-Plus for exercise is required from those new to the class and any further prompts the form requires.
