This introduction to blacksmithing starts with learning the importance of safety in a blacksmith's shop. The hands-on component has students lighting a coal forge, as well as making a coat hook and dinner triangle. Students will learn how to heating mild steel in a forge and shape it with a hammer and anvil. Completing this course fulfills the prerequisite for taking further blacksmithing courses. Students must wear steel-toed boots.Program requires completion of the PARTICIPANT PACKAGE.
