The kids are almost back in school, but the summer is not quite over… there is still a wonderful long weekend to look forward to!  Celebrate with these awesome Labor Day events in San Francisco and the surrounding bay area!

10th Annual Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema

Showcasing the work of local filmmakers, the Bernal Heights Outdoor Cinema series offers films, music and more. The opening night and preview party on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Roccapulco Supper Club, 3140 Mission St., is a benefit for the Bernal History Project. On Thursday, catch the Beth Custer Ensemble as they perform a live soundtrack to a 1929 silent film. Friday marks the return of the annual Film Crawl on Cortland, while Saturday offers an outdoor cinema at Precita Park, Folsom Street at Precita Avenue. Seasoned viewers recommend blankets, cushions and low-backed chairs for a comfortable view of the screen and city lights. 4:30-8:30, Aug 29- Sept.1

Free Concert

Free Labor Day concert in Golden Gate Park on Monday Sept 2 at 1pm. This event is free for all ages! Bring a picnic and enjoy a glorious musical tradition in honor of Labor Day.

San Francisco Shakespeare Festival

It’s time for free Shakespeare in the park! The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival presents Macbeth on the Presidio’s Main Post and Parade Grounds. Shows run at 2pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday, labour day weekend. Free for everyone!

Labor Day Events in South Bay

San Jose Bacon Festival of America

This Labor Day weekend, save the date for the epic premier of the San Jose Bacon Festival. Enjoy this All-American event featuring: a bacon booking competition, bacon beauty pageant (haha sounds interesting??), bacon parade , and bacon square dancing. All dishes are $5 or less!

Los Gatos Park Dance

The event presents a fantastic evening for community and friends with live music for dancing under the stars, featuring Los Gatos’ own The Houserockers! The Los Gatos Community Foundation, Inc. presents what we hope will be a new Los Gatos tradition, a Labor Day weekend Community Celebration, called the Los Gatos Park Dance. Saturday, August 31, 2013.

Race to the End of Summer

Race to the End of Summer is a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon and Kids’ Fun Run along the Coyote Creek Trail, which benefits LLS. Each course overall is flat and suitable for runners and walkers of any level. All participants will receive a commemorative technical shirt and a goodie bag; Half Marathoners will receive a finisher’s medal.

61st Annual Sausalito Art Festival

2013 NorCal Kids Triathlon

NCKT is a Super Sprint Triathlon dedicated to encouraging High School students and younger kids to try a new activity, remain active and remain healthy. This race is dedicated to children from 6 through to High School. Sorry Mom and Dad.

Bay Area Family Fest

Bay Area Festivals, Inc. is pleased to present Bay Area FamilyFest, a 3-day labor day weekend of quality live entertainment, activities and sports for children to stimulate learning and exploration while presenting parents with new ideas and opportunities from arts & crafts and other exhibitors. FamilyFest also showcases community groups dedicated to families and children while celebrating the value and importance of families as a key part of a healthy community. All entertainment, attractions and free art activities are included in the $5 admission price.

4th Annual Local 6 Picnic

Bring your family to the San Pablo Reservoir and lake on Sept 2nd between 2 and 7 and enjoy delicious barbecue (with veggie options), grilled by our very own Steve D’Amico and his handpicked team of sous chefs. There will be games for the kids, hiking and kayaking and a raffle with a dazzling array of prizes!

Historic Rail Fair

The 13th annual Rail Fair returns to the Ardenwood historic farm over the Labor Day weekend. The centerpiece will be the 1890 steam porter engine “Ann Marie,” with a possible surprise engine to be announced later. Enjoy steam train rides, hand car rides, model railroads, railyard equipment displays, Tractor displays, food, the children’s Hobo game, music and more!! 10-4 daily, over labor day weekend!

43rd Annual Millbrae Art & Wine Festival

Art & Wine- need I say more? The Millbrae Art & Wine Festival is the premier fair on the Peninsula on Labor Day Weekend and consistently draws over 65,000 attendees. It is a classic event providing many levels of participation for residents, community service groups, sponsors, and you…the Exhibitor.

2nd Annual Burlingame Spirit Run

Come show your SPIRIT at the annual Burlingame Spirit Run on Sept 2nd! Walk or run, bring friends and family! After the finish line there will be a Health/Fitness Expo for all ages to enjoy.
