Do you have a child interested in dance for the first time? Or maybe you're looking to try a new studio for your experienced dancer? It's important to find a studio that best suits your child in order for them to feel comfortable and challenged and grow as a dancer.
To be honest, there are no bad choices here in Edmonton. We have many amazing instructors and studios (over 65 in fact). But with that being said, there are better choices for your child. Depending on their style of learning, how competitive they want to be, and of course which style of dance they are interested in.
Below is a list of studios that have come highly recommended by parents and young dancers, so learn about each and see which one would sound like the best fit!

The Dance Theatre Performing Arts Centre is a performing arts school offering Children’s and Adult’s classes in dance, drama and voice. Although taught separately, all classes are inter-related, and culminate in a full musical theatre production at the end of the season. Recent productions have included: Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, and Alice in Wonderland. Class sizes are small (10 student limit per class) for optimal instruction.

One of the only studios in Edmonton that offers year-round drop-in training, Dance Code is known for accommodating a wide range of dancers. From your first interest in dance to professional dancing, they have it all! The Kids Program is dedicated to providing a fun environment where kids can grow, learn and be themselves. They offer a wide variety of styles taught by passionate instructors who are eager to share their love of dance. These world class instructors provide a very welcoming and inclusive environment. 3SB started out in 2001 as the first all hip-hop dance studio in Edmonton, designed to educate and train students in the many diverse dance styles authentic to the street dance culture. In the last couple of years it has expanded to jazz, tap, and contemporary. The focus is on youth ages 3-12 but they have programs for everyone up to age 50 years old. Whether you are looking for a recreational fun drop-in based class or a competitive performance based class 3SB has it all.

The School of Alberta Ballet is one of Canada's leading professional dance schools and offers two streams of superior dance training - a Professional Division for students aspiring for a career in the dance industry and an Open Division for students who want to dance at more a recreational level. The School of Alberta Ballet's Open Division offers classes for dancers of all ages and abilities, from preschoolers to adults.

Edmonton Community Dance offers recreational dance instruction at an affordable price, in the areas of baby ballet/creative movement, jazz, ballet, and hip-hop. ECD offers fun and progressive dance lessons in the communities north of the North Saskatchewan River. Programs culminate with a large performance at the end of session two, and several in house performances for the very young students.

Marr Mac offers an alternative atmosphere that trains dancers from beginners to the pre-professional level. Dancers, parents and friends feel welcome. Their philosophy prioritizes all levels of classes equally, ensuring quality and commitment to each and every class and student. While the instructors expect a lot from their students, they expect a lot out of themselves, and have fun while doing so!

At Flexpointe Studios, classes are taught by certified, dedicated and experienced instructors. They offer classes for students ages 2 years to adult. Performance and examination opportunities are available for all students. What a parent had to say:

Whether you are a Scot or not, you are welcome at Celtic Dance! Their 'dance clan' as they call it is the perfect place to take classes in Irish or Highland dancing. They teach all levels ages 3 to adult. They do actually have additional classes in tap, jazz, lyrical and yoga.

The Elite Kids Club has been a unique and outstanding amateur dance program since 2006, teaching kids to Ballroom dance in both social and competitive settings.
