2015 Family-Friendly Outdoor Summer Shows in Ottawa

Many options are available in Ottawa but here are our favourite family-friendly choices this summer:



The Comedy of Errors

July 2-August 15 (Monday-Saturday)

Set against the backdrop of Ottawa parks, this touring outdoor show will encourage the audience to partake in a Where’s Waldo-esque array of colour and hustle-bustle, challenging the notion of truly knowing one’s friend, spouse, neighbour and self.

Fortissimo

July 23-25

In its 19th year, Fortissimo is a military and musical spectacular event that takes place on the lawns of Parliament Hill featuring massed military bands, pipes and drums, guest performers and the soldiers of the Ceremonial Guard.

Festival Kafé-Karamel

July 23-26

An urban tropical outdoor party that showcases dance, percussion workshops, musical entertainment by top DJ’s, Live bands, colourful shows and flavours organized by Club Social Salsa Loca.

Location: Laval St in Vieux-Hull, Gatineau




Capital Ukrainian Festival 

July 24-26

Experience the life, joy and heritage of Ukrainian culture with some great live entertainment for the whole family on the 25th and 26th. (the opening show on the 24th is for ages 19+).

Bytown Days

July 30-August 3 

Bytown Days features the 20th annual Colonel By Day, featuring costumed characters and free interactive activities: processions, demonstrators, exhibitors & entertainment. Bytown Days is your PASTport to Ottawa’s By-gone days!

Ottawa International Buskerfest

July 30-August 3

Visit the historic Sparks Street and watch Incredible Street Performers from around the world. Shows for the whole family including jugglers,escape artists, acrobats, fire eaters, and more!

Auto Show Gatineau

August 7-9

A can't-miss event for a family of car enthusiasts. The program features a drive-in, a stand-up comic, artists, and the MASC Idol competition featuring unique cars and an automobile elegance contest.

Casino du Lac-Leamy Sound of Light

August 8-22, Wednesdays and Saturdays

An international fireworks competition with the greatest pyrotechnic experts—five unforgettable evenings of magical moments, colourful lights and melodic sound.

Location: Canadian Museum of History
$8 general admission
