Kids Christmas Events on the Peninsula 2019

Ready or not, the Christmas season is here. Keep this list of Christmas events in the SF Peninsula in your back pocket for the holiday season, and you'll never have a shortage of fun Christmassy activities to do.

Holiday Craft Faire

When: November 23, 2019
Where: Twin Pines Park, Belmont

Participate in a day filled with music, treats, and fantastic hand-crafted items. Vendors will be located inside the Twin Pines Parks' buildings. 

The Christmas Ballet

When: November 29 to December 1, 2019
Where: Mountain View Center for Performing Arts

Is there a better way to celebrate the holidays than with mashup of ballet, jazz, and tap? Popular carols will be played with spectacular contemporary numbers. This performance will have you dancing in your seat.  

Holiday Tree Lighting

When: December 6, 2019
Where: Santa Cruz Avenue at University Drive, Menlo Park

Enjoy the live entertainment and Christmas carol sing-along with some free hot cocoa and cookies. There will be a visit by Santa and his elves and the Mayor, who will be lighting the holiday tree. The event is free and will take place rain or shine.

Hometown Holidays

When: December 7, 2019
Where: Courthouse Square, Redwood City

Each year on the first Saturday of December, Redwood City's Downtown Business group throws a party to celebrate the Holiday Season. Enjoy the parade, entertainment, music, snow, Santa, and the tree lighting in Courthouse Square.

Santa at the Firehouse and Toy Drive

When: December 12, 2019
Where: Belmont Fire State

The Belmont Firehouse invites you to drop in and meet your local firefighters this holiday season. There will be games and a chance to play in the snow. Please bring one wrapped present for a child in need.

The Nutcracker

When: December 21, 22, 27, and 28, 2019
Where: The Fox Theatre, Redwood City

The Peninsula Ballet Theatre's professional company is performing a full-length production of the Nutcracker for four nights in December. Join Clara on her journey through the Snow Kingdom to turn her toy nutcracker into a real man. 

Annual Holiday Faire & Boutique

When: December 7, 2019
Where: Waldorf School of the Peninsula

For one day, the Waldorf School of the Peninsula, Los Altos campus transforms into a magical winter wonderland for all ages to enjoy! Activities will include the Gnome Adventure, wreath making, games and prizes, a craft workshop for all ages, puppet shows, and more!

Breakfast with Santa

When: December 7, 2019
Where: Arrillaga Family Recreation Center, Menlo Park

Guests will enjoy a pancake breakfast, holiday crafts, letter writing to Santa, a family photo booth, and the opportunity to visit with Santa! You may register for one of four separate sessions. There are four breakfast shifts to choose from. 

Festival of Lights

When: December 8, 2019
Where: Brisbane Community Park, Brisbane

The Festival of Lights is a holiday celebration, focused on the holidays as a season of giving and enjoying the company of each other as a community. The event begins with caroling from the top of Visitacion Avenue to the Brisbane Community Park. The tradition includes a visit from Santa Claus and the lighting of the tree by our Volunteer of the Year and Mayor. 

Mountain View Tree Lighting

When: December 9, 2019
Where: Civic Center Plaza

Celebrate the holidays with friends and family at the Mountain View Community Tree Lighting Celebration. Enjoy live holiday music, refreshments, lights and the arrival of Santa Claus. Children can visit and have their picture taken with Santa at this free event, please bring your own camera. In the spirit of the season, guests are encouraged to bring a can of food to benefit the Community Services Agency.

German Holiday Market 

When: December 14, 2019
Where: 500 Castro Street, Mountain View

Experience the inviting atmosphere of an open-air market based on markets in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Goods from Germany and items by local artisans will be on sale. Plus, there's lots for the kids to enjoy. There will be a photos with Santa, carnival games, a climbing wall, face painting, and crafts!

10th Annual Chanukah Festival

When: December 22, 2019
Where: Redwood City Courthouse Square 

Spread the light of Chanukah and join together with the Jewish community of the Mid Peninsula for a grand public Menorah lighting! Children's activities start at 4pm, Menorah lighting at 4:30.
