Slide The City Coming To Portland

The gigantic 1,000 foot slip-and-slide is said to be coming to the streets of Portland! While dates and location are still TBD, Portland has been added to the expected locations of Slide the City- a summer event you definitely won't want to miss.

What better way to spend a summer day than sliding down a 1,000 foot slip-and-slide?! If you're like me and can't quite picture how long that is, it's the size of THREE FOOTBALL FIELDS! Very exciting. If you haven’t heard about Slide The City, it's a family friendly water party event with live music, food, water fights, and of course, the mecca of slip-and-slides.

Bring your floatie, plus come well equipped for a huge water fight that is bound to ensue! With tickets, you get a water gun, but also come armed with water balloons, super soakers, or anything else that can help you defend yourself and get others soaking wet! You can attend the event for free, but need tickets to ride the slide.

Coming to Portland- Dates TBD

Slide The City has added a number of new cities to their planned locations, and they've officially added Portland to the list. While no date is set, the site says that it will be "Coming Soon". Let's hope it will be hitting up our streets this summer! In order to make sure you get the announcement of the dates at the earliest opportunity, I'd suggest signing up for their newsletter, they'll notify you as soon as registration opens! Here's the link: http://www.slidethecity.com/events/portland-1/

We'll keep the article updated as we find out more information as well.

Exact location of where the slide would hit the asphalt has not been announced. Usually they will post to their Facebook page as they're getting ready for each city, and put the question out to the locals for what hill would be the best.

Ticket Info & Prices

Single Slider- you'll receive a wristband allowing you one slide throughout the day. You'll also receive goodies including a water gun and mouth guard. This option is regularly $20 with online registration, $25 on the day of the event, and there will be a $15 early bird deal.

Triple Slideryou'll receive a wristband allowing you three slides throughout the day. You'll also receive goodies including a water gun and mouth guard. This option is regularly $35 with online registration, $40 on the day of the event, and there will be a $30 early bird deal.

VIP Slideryou'll receive a wristband allowing you unlimited slides throughout the day, PLUS, one hour before the slide opens for VIPer's only. You'll also receive goodies including a water gun (upgraded!), t-shirt, tube, hat and mouth guard. This option is regularly $55 with online registration, $60 on the day of the event, and there will be a $50 early bird deal.

Dates for registration pricing changes aren't yet listed, so if you want to snap up those early bird deals, keep a watchful eye. Like I said before, signing up for the Slide the City mailing list will be your best bet.

Ages- children must be either over 46 inches tall or over 5 years old in order to slide. Anyone under the age of 18 will need a legal guardians signature to participate. The event as a whole is totally free to attend for ALL ages, so even if your little one can't tackle the slide, it will be tons of fun to watch and get people wet!

A Glance At The First ‘Slide The City’ Event in Salt Lake City

The first Slide The City event in Salt Lake City, Utah was a huge success last summer! If you check out their site or Facebook page, you’ll see tons of photos and videos. Notice the huge smiles on everyone’s face!

3,000 tickets were available and each one of them sold out. So make sure you get your ticket quick! Ticket prices were from $15/single slide – $25/ triple slides and $35 for unlimited access. There were also VIP Tickets for $45 which gave an hour of exclusive sliding for VIP pass holders, plus lunch, t-shirt, and hat. All proceeds went towards Ronald McDonald House and the Utah Aids Foundation.

Looks like they had a BLAST!

I'd be very interested to learn what happens to all that plastic after it's been used for the "Slide The City Coming To Portland." Of course it will be recycled, right?

The huge hill on NE 33rd Ave just North of Grant would be perfect. At the Intersection of NE 33rd and NE Fremont if you are looking on street view.

It would be really awesome if I knew if this was in Portland, Maine or Portland, Oregon. It's really annoying when people talk about Portland and don't specify which one.

What no one knows is that this slide will be directed right in to my butt hole. But don't worry; it's big enough for ALL of you to stretch out and relax.
