Indoor play areas are a safe haven for parents as you can let your little ones run around and blow off some steam no matter what the weather chooses to do (because you just never really know around here).
As it gets cold and snowy this winter you can still tackle a playground or two!
It's always such a treat for my kiddos to play at these places, they are great options for birthday parties too.
In no particular order, here's all the indoor play centres in and around Calgary:
The largest of the indoor playgrounds, and very clean. They have two play areas for 36 months and younger and tons to do for the older kids, from the huge multi-level play structure to arcade games with prizes. The play structure is big enough that even parents can fit! The lounge area is welcoming and the cafeteria has tasty meals and healthy snacks.
#18, 49 Aro Drive NE
Open 9am - 9pm daily
The four storey play structure is big enough that anyone who is a kid at heart can play (even parents!). TreeHouse has a toddler area for the little ones, an arcade area with prizes, rock climbing wall, inflatables, and a full concession with different food options and coffee. The layout is a nice and open concept, allowing you to sit at the cafe and relax but still keep a watchful eye on your child. With so many options to suit the needs of any age, it's a perfect place to spend a few hours when you have a range in ages and interests!
3337-34 Avenue NE
Open play 9am - 9pm daily
Photo shows NW location
This indoor playground and family entertainment center is geared towards ages 0 to 12 and has an impressive amount of things to do! The Southeast location features a massive multi-level play structure, bridges and a zip-line. Around the facility is also a roller racer track, interactive game tower, toddler area, and even a laser maze.
The Northwest location is similar featuring a similar massive multi-level play structure, roller racer track, and toddler area. But they also have TmeFreak where you can race other players in a push button challenge, and Jumpshot, an enclosed trampoline with basketball. You can upgrade your admission at this location for the K-Zone, which includes laser tag and a big climbing wall.
Southeast location: #148, 4916-130th Avenue SE
Northwest location: #830, 12024 Sarcee Trail NW
Open play 9:30am - 8:30pm daily
This indoor playground is extremely clean, great design, and well managed. Out of the big indoor facilities in the Calgary area this one was our favourite if you have a younger child (7 and under) as it's a bit more spaced out with lots of separate areas and less busy. Kids will enjoy the big play structure, slides, bouncy castle, ball pit, ninja course, and toddler room- lots for all ages. They also have a cafe area with healthy snacks and plenty of seating, where you can view the play area and keep watch of the children.
6008 Macleod Tr SW
Open play 9:30am - 9pm daily, Sundays and Holiday's close at 8pm
Calgary Farmers' Market has an indoor area just off the food court of the Market for children to play. It’s a great spot because parents can sit nearby, enjoy a coffee, or lunch with a friend or get some work done on the free wi-fi. With the long winters in Calgary, the indoor Barnyard Kids Play Area is very popular, and best of all, free!
510 77th Aveenue SE
Open 9am - 5pm from Thursday - Sunday
A much pricier option, but a fun indoor activity is to visit TELUS Spark to unleash your curious side. Kids can think with their hands in Open Studio and fly to the outer reaches of the known universe. They have a three storey tower kids can climb and slide on down. But on top of the play, there's live science demonstrations and lots of exciting learning.
220 St. George's Drive NE
Open from 10am-4pm most days
