There's no wonder why indoor play places have become so popular- Not only do they provide a fun environment for your little ones to burn off their seemingly unlimited energy, parents, grandparent and care givers can have a peaceful place to catch up on reading or emails while watching their kids play.


Some helpful tips:

  • Most require socks, so make sure you pack a pair if they aren't already wearing some

Play Haven - San Francisco


Play Haven is San Francisco’s newest children's play space & party venue. Created by a preschool teacher of 12 years, here you will find everything from art and sensory activities, to imaginative games and play areas, and even a rock climbing wall! They also offer private parties, enrichment classes, parent working spaces, a FREE parking lot and WiFi.

Price: $14 per child and $7 per sibling (membership or multi-visit packages available)

Peek-a-Boo Factory - San Francisco


Peek-a Boo Factory an environment that emphasizes physical exercise, mental stimulation, and collaborative activities. Your children will learn, play, and socialize! With walk-in play at all times and separate play areas for different age groups to ensure small children have a safe place to play, it's a stress free place to go. They also have a 3 story play structure for the larger kids. For you parents, they have a workspace to catch up on emails or just socialize and relax while the kids have fun. Peek-a-Boo Factory also offers early childhood enrichment classes during the week, and is available for AWESOME birthday parties.

Little Imaginarium - Vallejo


This children's play store located in the heart of downtown Vallejo and is known as a "hidden gem" to any of those who have found it. The owner, Colleen, is so passionate about helping children learn and develop through creative play- and it 100% comes across in the space. They also host birthday parties and have arts and craft workshops for children ages 1yrs- 6yrs. Little Imaginarium's storefront has wonderful educational toys, books, pretend play clothes, seasonal items and much more.

Pricing: $6 for open play (adults free)

Hop-n-Play - San Bruno


Hop-n-Play is a one of a kind indoor playground experience with more than 2,000 square feet of pure fun in a clean, safe and secure facility in the Tanforan Shopping mall located at the heart of the Peninsula. A truly unique experience for the young toddlers to exercise their new found motor skills. Hop-n-Play provides “open play” year round so you can come in at any time during their business hours. They also have 2 large multi-function rooms for your birthday parties, baby showers or any other kids related community events.

This award winning, drop-in play space is perfect for young children and their families. You may recall it as Studio Grow, and it is still run by the same owner, and also still a local favorite! Join in on many fun and educational activities, ranging in art, music, dancing, dress up, climbing, puzzles, blocks, trains, and much more. No membership needed and no reservations required.

Pricing: $16 per child and $8 per sibling (cheaper after 2pm or multi pass purchase)

The COOP - South San Francisco


A new(ish) play space to check out! The COOP is an established favorite in LA, but the first and only NorCal location. A modern kid's party and play space that features a massive ballpit, slides, bounce house, and even an electronic dance floor. The area for the grown ups is just as enjoyable- a bright space with a cappuccino bar, magazines, and free high speed wifi. Neither of you will want to leave! Their themed birthday parties are some of the best I've seen- they are closed for open play on weekends due to the many private parties they host.

They have plans to open another in Silicon Valley, so stay tuned :)

Recess Urban Recreation - Potrero Hill San Francisco


A unique concept that you may just fall in love with is Recess Urban Recreation. Recess is a huge indoor playspace where kids have the freedom to explore, get messy, socialize and burn off that never-ending energy. Space is also provided for parents with moderated playgroups, parent workshops, childcare and Pilates. A perfect place for children and parents to connect, share experiences and build friendships. 

Recess is largely membership based, but you can visit them for a free open house to learn all about it!

The Duck Pond - San Jose


The Duck Pond is a beautiful indoor AND outdoor play space. Affordable, clean, safe, and non-profit, The Duck Pond provides "make n takes", homemade playdough and circle time during morning sessions. They also feature live entertainment for toddlers, and host many community events that are always a huge hit with the kids.

Bumble - Los Altos


This is actually a local organic restaurant in Downtown Los Altos, but they have a sunny and bright playroom and outdoor patio that is incredibly beautiful and fun for the kids. On top of great coffee, they serve beer and wine. So you can sip on your beverage of choice and indulge in a tasty meal while your kids play. Bumble is a popular spot, so it's almost always a good idea to make a reservation beforehand. Check out their website as they sometimes offer playroom promos!

Pricing: $15 per child or $25 if you want to include a "Little B Plate" for them to eat and enjoy

Diddalidoo - San Bruno


Diddalidoo is one of the hottest tot spots in the Bay Area! Their indoor play center is specifically created for 0-4 year olds. Drop-in hours allow you to plan playtime around your babes nap schedules, and gives you the perfect space to bond with your little one while exploring, learning and socializing through interactive play. They even have a Quiet Room for nursing or if your rambunctious tot needs a time out, and a cafe for snacks.

Pricing: $8 for non-crawlers & $13 for crawlers or walkers (adults free)

Studio Grow - Danville


Studio Grow offers a play space for young children and their families with a variety of fun and educational activities. This no-membership needed, no-reservations required and admission valid for the whole day space is winning awards and loved by local parents. The space is ideal for ages 0-6.

Pump It Up - San Francisco

Pump It Up actually specializes in private, indoor birthday parties for kids. But they have an Open Jump at select times where kids can play in a cool, indoor play area. Their massive inflatables are tons of fun for kids (and parents too!) and a great way to get exercise.

#bouncefarm - Martinez
