Two sisters brought something incredibly special to the community of Cloverdale, B.C. and it’s worth checking out. Create-It Emporium was born from a mutual love of art shared by Joanna Redfern and Stefanie O’Keefe, and was brought to life in a cozy corner of Cloverdale’s historic downtown district just two years ago.
With an elegant, yet family-friendly atmosphere, there is something for everyone at Create-It Emporium.
Not only do the owners have a passion for the arts, they also have a strong sense of community giving. Supporting local charities is part of their operations with initiatives carried out throughout the year. For example, last year they ran an extremely successful campaign to provide hand-painted mugs for the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Members of the community were encouraged to come in and paint a 12-oz mug at a discount price that would then make a home in the hospice kitchen. Over 40 mugs were painted and sent over from this studio alone – and really, the best way to share the beauty of this is to have you click over to Michaela Evanow’s blog post, the mom of a little girl who receives services there. You may want to keep a tissue handy for the happy tears!
Create-It Emporium is where art and social change intersect. It’s a place where you can be a kid again and where your kids can be the magical creators they are. With a dream to resurrect the dying arts and crafts of yesteryear – including sewing, knitting and crocheting – this studio brings you endless possibilities to spend creative time with your family.
Check out this two minute video and meet Joanna while getting a tour of one of Cloverdale’s gems. Then carve out some time to take the trip down - you won't be disappointed!
